No longer with us? You can still be involved!
Here are some ideas
Student Media Advisory Board
USU Student Media needs volunteers for the Student Media Advisory Board. This board is responsible for the hiring of student leaders. The time commitment is a couple of hours for two or three days a year. Calling in is available.
Mentor and Network
Help mentor USU Student Media students by providing insight on how they can grow their talent and their resume. Help them network to find internships, volunteer opportunities, and jobs after college. USU Student Media students have a variety of majors, not just journalism or communications majors. All alumni with various degrees, backgrounds, and experiences are needed.
End of Year Awards Banquet
Every year USU Student Media hosts an awards banquet for students involved in the academic year, and alumni. Students apply for awards ranging from Statesman-based to Aggie Radio-based to all around excellence. Judges review applications by ranking them to help decide who wins awards. Many of these awards have scholarships attached to them. Judges and all other alumni are invited to attend the event. Internet access for Google Sheets and email is all that is required besides a few hours of time.
As working professionals and as alumni or former employees, we would like your input on how we are doing. Listen to Aggie Radio, some podcasts, and shows. What are we dong well? What suggestions do you have to improve the paper, our websites, marketing, sales, graphic design, radio and our special issues? We want to hear.
Research and Write the History of USU Student Media
Researcher and Co-writer
Help compile the history of USU Student Media by looking through old issues of Student Life and The Utah Statesman and providing names, dates, processes, and functionalities of the organization. Help interview people instrumental in the survival and creation of Aggie Radio and its predecessor.
Help us find our alumni base so we can hold alumni events, get alumni involved, and network together. This will also help us to help alumni and to gather the history of USU Student Media.
